It’s a continuation of Industrial Forest Practices, taking 200,000 tones per year of old growth forests. Bulldozing and burning of 100,000 tonnes of “minor” species per year.
• It relies on and is driven by 150% tax breaks to establish plantations. • It will increase levels of poisoning and spraying of fauna, people and plantations.
• The State Government is currently reducing the scope of regulations on aerial spraying.
• The Government is not ending the Logging of Old Growth Forests, use of 1080 poison, or Clear Felling Practices as per the “Tasmania Together” wishes of the overwhelming majority of Tasmanians.
• The Government, Forestry Tasmania, and Logging companies are not observing the Regional Forest Practises.
• The Government does not support, or provide an independent review of concerns of individuals or community groups when environmental; health or resource matters are raised.
• The Proponent is being supported and able to include in their proposal the use 26Gl per year of clean river water, pollution of the water and then dump it out to a pristine marine environment - with out re-cycling or any re-use of the water.
• The increased level of Particulate and Odour emissions, in the Tamar Valley. • The Proponent, Government and Ministers regularly compromising the independent standing of the RPDC.
• Allowing the Proponent to site the Pulp Mill on the side of the beautiful Tamar River at LONGREACH, rather at the centre of the industrial complex at Bell Bay.
• Supporting the Proponent when they , the Government, the Task Force has repeatedly stated that there will be no additional trees cut down, effluent as clean as aquarium water, and no increased road traffic, 2 odour instances per year. When the IIS plainly states these values will not be provided.
• The Government has secretly aided the Proposal by under writing substantial infrastructure costs of $100M to $200 M, and providing resources belonging to all Tasmanians.
• Because the Proponent and the Government has blatantly engineered this whole process with mis-information, mass media one sided advertising, undertaken covert deals, signed a charter, organised Councils and Business organisations– all to support this proposal—without building in Community values.
