The Meander Dam is soon to come on line and with the primary declared purpose of controlling the flow of the Meander River for the benefit of local farmers. This idea has literally been sold to them and they have had to pay for their allocations of water in advance.
However, with the new PAL Act, much of this farmland is destined to be converted to plantations. Will the MIS Companies and Gunns be paying the same rates for this water to irrigate their 'crops' as the farmers, or will they once again be subsidising this destructive industry?
