Rally and March - Restore Democracy, Stop the Pulp Mill

23 Aug 2008 - 12:00pm
23 Aug 2008 - 2:30pm
Etc/GMT+10

Our government has sold us out.

Our elected representatives have passed a law removing your democratic rights.  Section 11 of the Pulp Mill Assessment Act  says no one is entitled to appeal for compensation from damages to their business, property values or health caused by Gunns’ planned pulp mill.

In spite of majority public opinion against the planned mill, governments both state and federal have poured millions of dollars of community money into supporting it. Thats money that could have been spent on hospitals and schools.

State Labor has extended deadlines for Gunns and has refused to rule out compulsory land purchases for pipelines for private business.

Speakers for the rally
Bob McMahon (TAP)
Rachel Maynard/Nala Mansell (TAC)
Peter Cundall (TAP)
Dr Warwick Raverty (formerly of the RPDC)
